News and Updates

July 1, 2010 - Message to FMCC members from Rich Fanelli, FMCC President:

I am honored and proud to be the president of the IFMA Consultant’s Council. This privilege ranks right up there with becoming an IFMA Fellow, serving on the IFMA board of directors and finding out that I passed the CFM exam. I plan to work with our board and member volunteers to enhance the value proposition of our Council so that your active participation in the Council will help to support your consulting practice. Some of the initiatives that we will be working on are:

  • Help to make your practice visible to FMs: We have developed a web-based Resource Directory where you can populate your practice information. This is a searchable database where Facility Managers can search for numerous expertise in any geographic region.  We are working with IFMA HQ to make this directory easy to find from IFMA’s home page. To populate your information, please go to our web site home page http://www.ifma-fmcc.org then enter your profile name and password (contact Jeannie Nguyen jeannie.nguyen@ifma.org  or 713-623-4362 ext. 120 if you have any trouble with that), then go to Member Profile, fill in your contact and practice profile information, then hit the submit button.
  • Actively promote strategic alliances between our members: One of the greatest benefits to being an active member of the Council is the opportunity to create friendships and strategic alliances with other members whose practice complement your practice.  We plan to increase the opportunities to have more face to face meetings between members so that we can all cultivate these alliances.  A group of our European FMCC members have a very active strategic alliance which generates a great deal of work for them.  Mike Liddle, one of our Global Liaison board members, will be speaking about this at our annual business meeting at World Workplace in Atlanta.  Please plan to attend. Mark your calendar for Wednesday, October 27th at 8am in Atlanta for our meeting. I have personally benefitted from knowing many of our members around the world in the sharing of best practices and document examples so that I don’t have to reinvent the wheel.
  • Develop a Robust Sponsorship Program:  We need sponsorship dollars to support many of our initiatives and programs.  Our members are specifyers and users of products and services from national and international manufactures and service providers.  We plan to tap into our membership through a questionnaire that you will receive, that will help to uncover who our target sponsors should be. Our sponsorship committee is working with me to better define the value proposition and benefits to potential sponsors. There will be numerous opportunities for our sponsors to gain exposure to our members, and other IFMA members, through displaying their information on our monthly webinars, at our live meetings, our World Workplace trade show booth and our web site.
  • Membership Growth: Currently, our membership stands at 431. Even though we are one of the largest IFMA Councils, we know there is a huge untapped market of FM consultants out there who are not members of the FMCC. I will be working with our membership committee to improve our processes and tools to create a membership campaign to reach out to potential members, while actively working to retain our current members.  Having recently attended the EFMC in Madrid Spain (European Facilities Managers Conference), I know there is a huge, untapped European FM consultant’s market out there too.  I am working with our Global liaisons and Teena Shouse to formulate a strategy to tap into Europe for potential members.

There is a lot of work to be done and it can be accomplished with your help.  Please contact me directly to see how you can use your talents and interests to help the FMCC achieve its goals.

Have a great summer.
