September 23 , 2009 - Message to FMCC members from Kit Tuveson, President:

Greetings to all FMCC members around the world!  It has been a while since I last gave you an update on our council and its activities.  Although we are working our way through very trying economic times, your Council remains relevant, vibrant and eager to continue serving its members with networking, services and opportunities for consulting.

One of the best ways to show and measure progress is to compare results against plans.  Your council Board has been using the 2008/2009 strategic plan as a tool for setting direction and prioritizing actions, and we wanted to share our progress.  The document titled “Strategic & Operations Plan” shows the results against each of the four main goals. (Also located under the "About" tab in the "Strat Plan and Balance Score Card" page). We made progress in all areas, but there are a couple of objectives that we are still pursuing.

The Board recently approved the 2009/2010 Strategic Plan; it has three goals this year.  It continues to put focus on currently successful initiatives like the Webinars, and it also highlights several new initiatives that are key to the future success and viability of your Council.  I’d like to comment on these three goals for this year.  The specifics are also in the above referenced document.

Goal #1 speaks to improving the visibility of our members via the new Resource Directory tool, and it also focuses on public relations opportunities for increasing the image of the FMCC through the use of IFMA’s global PR reach.

Goal #2 is focused on increasing our global presence and development of a Toolkit of resources that consulting practitioner members can utilize to increase the efficiency and profitability of their consulting practices.

Goal #3 speaks to the work of improving internal operational efficiency and maintaining fiscal responsibility during difficult economic times.  The new element here is the use of more web-based meeting technology and on-line storage of operational documents.

By meeting the objectives shown under each of these three goals, I am certain that your Council will remain an important resource for you in the coming year.

Our council has members from all over the globe, so it is difficult to meet face to face.  However, there are a large number of FMCC members attending World Workplace in Orlando in several weeks, and I hope to see them at our Wednesday morning Council meeting, Friday afternoon lunch session and on the Expo floor at our FMCC booth #1958.

As always, I really look forward to notes and comments from you.  Tell me what you think about the Strategic Plan, offer suggestions for programs and activities that would enhance the membership value, and offer to help out in an area of particular interest to you.  By working together, we help each of us be more successful in our individual consulting endeavors.
